This release stands out as unusual amongst contemporaries. Matlock's music is steeped in the minimalist, avant-garde scene of 1960s Southern California as much as it's indebted to the explorative synthesiser work of advanced 1970s artists such as Jean Michel-Jarre or Klaus Schulze. The result is a contemplative & very beautiful 5 track release of delicate, free piano composition set against a backdrop of woozy textures & frequencies. A great companion piece for late night thinking, reading or even sleep.
