Through the dimming mists of the Bitter Mountains a candle burns in a small, wooden cabin. Born in a time of peace, the Runecaster lives & works within a small community of traders, unable to grow many of their own crops in the cold and harsh environments of the far north. The Runecaster's knowledge of the sea, fishing, mining & of rare metals, hewn from ancient rock are essential to the prosperity of his people.

Rumours are spreading of the King's conspiracy to destroy & steal from the peaceful mountain folk and tensions increase as more black flag pirate ships are allowed to pass through from the Scarlet Kingdom to ruin & plunder their age-old trade routes.

The Runecaster sets off with a small party of 4 adventurers in an attempt to open dialogue & seek advice from the mysterious & isolated sea people located across the bleak Dyrne Pass, west of the mountains. It's here that the party learn of a hidden object of great archaeological interest which is said to be located on a small island past the Sword Shores.
